Turin

Once the capital of the kingdom of Italy (from 1861 to 1865), Turin has maintained its charm over the centuries due to an austere, and at the same time, elegant appearance: the history of our country has passed under its colonnades. Mole Antonelliana

A symbol of the city, with a height of 167.5 metres it was the tallest building in the world until 1908. Designed by Alessando Antonelli in an eclectic, nineteenth-century style, it houses the Museum of Cinema

 

Egyptian Museum

It is the most important in the world after the one in Cairo, out of museums dedicated to Egyptian art and history. It is based in the Palazzo dell’Accademia delle Scienze and houses masterpieces like the statues of Isis and Ramesses II.

Royal Palace of Turin

The Savoy Royal Home , has been a Unesco heritage site since 1997. Inside, you can visit splendid, sumptuous rooms, a symbol of the power and the magniloquence of the Royal family. Don’t miss the “Scala delle Forbici”, designed by Filippo Juvara.

Historic Cafés 

The old cafés of Turin are world famous. From “Bicerin”, a favourite with Camillo Benso di Cavour to the San Carlo Café, where intellectuals used to meet during the Risorgimento, and the “Platti” loved by Cesare Pavese, it is well worth visiting them all to try their specialities.

Travel Documents

Identity Card

An identity card valid for leaving the country allows entry into European Union countries. However, please note that there have been reports of difficulties in some countries with the recognition of renewed and stamped paper identity cards, as well as the refusal of electronic ID cards renewed with a certificate issued by the municipality.

Passport

An ordinary passport is valid for all countries whose governments are recognized by the Italian one, except for any legal restrictions, and can be obtained by all citizens of the Republic. A passport is issued (and renewed) by the police and abroad, by diplomatic and consular representatives. It is valid for 10 years, but in some cases provided for by current legislation, this validity may be shortened.
